Stories of Survivors
– This page will be updated soon with proper stories as we get them in insha’Allaah. In the meantime, if you know anyone who has suffered from this and overcame it and would be willing to share their story, please forward them to us! JazaakAllaahu khayra –
The purpose of bringing these stories to light is to create an awareness within our Muslim communities about the issues plaguing it in the form of ‘Marriage Bandits’ by allowing their victims to finally have a voice.
Maybe you’ve already heard some of them – stories of sisters being tricked into marriages and then left broken and hurt, families helpless and in tears, sisters leaving Islaam due to these actions – but now they tell their stories in their own words. These accounts will give a firsthand look into the dirty and depraved situation many vulnerable sisters are placed in and have been subjected to by these ‘Marriage Bandits’.
By this, we hope to bring this sick practice out of the shadows and into the light and bring awareness to the masses, so that families can be more cautious about these predators, so that sisters in these types of situations can know that they are not alone, and that others have gone through these same things and they can find help, so that they can recognize warning signs early – and know that these types of predators are rejected by the Muslim Ummah and that they have the support of Muslims worldwide against these criminals.
And of course, to encourage proactive action to be taken to stop these predators in whatever community they reside.
This is why we share their stories and as you read them, we ask – please don’t judge them for actions you may not understand, but make du’aa to Allaah for their well-being, and take action to help prevent those around you from facing the same.
